Craniosacral Therapy

CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

CST theory and practice is based on understanding the continuous subtle movements of the cranial bones, which result in a rhythm of approximately six to twelve cycles per minute. This rhythm is understood as a response to cerebrospinal fluid fluctuations within the spinal cord and brain environment. The subtle movement extends outward to the entire body, in response to the fluid pressure changes around the Central Nervous System.

Craniosacral treatment can address conditions such as Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury, Migraines and Headaches, Chronic Neck and Back Pain, Autism and Stress and Tension-Related Disorders. It can aid Motor-Coordination Impairments, Infant and Childhood Disorders, Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, TMJ Syndrome, Scoliosis.

It is purported to have a positive effect on Central Nervous System Disorders, Learning Disabilities, ADD/ADHD, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Orthopaedic Problems.
